Though I have no firsthand experience with your antenna, it appears to be a UHF only design. The ABC affiliate, WFAA is broadcasting on real channel 8, a High VHF channel. I believe that explains the trouble you've been having.

In the attic, several good options to consider,
Antennacraft C290 or C490
Channel Master CM3016, CM3018 or CM3020

Use the largest that will fit and allow you to point it south & slightly west. If your attic is an acceptable receiving location, you'll not need an amplifier, just a splitter with enough outputs to connect the TVs.
