The U8000 is simply too directional to expect reception of real CH-38 if aimed at the main group of UHF signals to the NW.

The ANT-751 is a good place to start. If it works as a one antenna solution... great. If you find it can't reliably receive all stations, it can be incorporated into a multiple antenna solution. It also serves as an economical test antenna in the attic. If you find poor reception in the attic, try outside in the clear.
