If you can go up, by all means try that. Also, try changing the aim just a few degrees left and right of 'center', rescanning each time. If you're fighting multipath interference, the small change in aim point may null out enough of the offending reflected signal.

An amplifier such as the CPA-19 will help only if there is a usable signal at the output of the antenna. You'll need the amp if you connect more than one TV.
