As @teleview mentioned already, try with no amplifier if connecting one or two sets. You should verify you have a clean signal before adding any amplifier... simply test with only one TV connected to the new antenna using a single piece of coax no longer than necessary to run temporarily from the antenna to the TV.

If connecting more sets, try your existing RCA preamp. if that fails to give good results, use a distribution amplifier as @teleview suggests, or alternate option is an Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp.
