Antenna selection upstate NY

Hi,

Currently have an older rooftop antenna with sketchy wiring. According to http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...990074bded4dc2 I should be receiving more channels than I do as I don't even get the strong stations reliably. I do have a large tree blocking the west where most of the signals are coming from.

I would be ecstatic if I could receive the top 9 stations on the report and I don't care if I receive the one VHF station on 6. So it looks like a UHF antenna is ok. Any recommendation on a specific model? I will rewire to TV if necessary. I only have one TV and it is less than 30 feet from antenna. Should I use coax for wire? And can I just aim toward the west where most of the stations are? Channel 15 actually comes in (usually) on the setup I have now.

Thanks so much.
