DTV/cell phone reception advise and products
Pending applications are not worth much these days. Any construction permit issued but not fullflled at this time can not be counted on when choosing an antenna system.
In my area alone, one major station WGAL 8 has no plan to commision channel 31 translator that shows up on AF and may even shut down channel recently commissioned 49. WHTM 10 is still runing a 16KW with a directional side mount that was installed for the transition, and sitting on a CP for 19+ KW (double power) transmitter and a new top mounted antenna which has or is about to expire. This also shows up on the TVF as 19+ KW with the new pattern.
There will be some exceptions to this statement, but before designing antenna systems around these construction permits, I recommend you contact the stations engineering department to find out if the pending channel is still in the works.
