The GUM recommendation is "spot on". The VHF antenna pointed to 310 degrees will receive HJHG real channel 7 and real 13, and 9, wihile the recommended UHF antenna receives all of the UHF channels located 38 degrees. I would use a Winegard AP2870 pre-amplifier. This will take the place of the joiner, couple the UHF and VHF antennas and amplify the weaker stations allowing for distribution from any splitter with up to eight outputs.
