True, but the UHF gain peaks at 10.2 dBi (about 8 dBd) with the reflector in place. Removing the reflector is going to reduce the forward gain by more than 3 dB, possibly as much as 6 dB due to the interaction of the reflector and tuned elements.

It seems at first glance, you've got very little gain left. With so many weak signals present, this seems like a marginal design.

A search on the specific Tivo model is in order. Some are rather finicky about signal quality.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
