Yes the DB4e has been optimized to cover real channels 14 through 51. As a result, it has better gain in that range. The U4000 was designed to cover real channels 14 through 69. The FCC has taken real channels 52 though 69 away from television service, selling the bandwidth to cell phone service carriers for the most part.

But... in your case the few dB of improvement is not significant. You can use the U4000 if you like.
Simply connect the combined antenna signals to the existing distribution amplifier.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
