The off aiming may not deliver the reception desired from any but the strongest channels.
To receive the channels from all desired directions you would be best to go ahead with the rotor. With controled rotation you can watch your signal meter (if that is an option) and aim the antenna, storing the locations where the reception is the most reliable.
