Reliable receptions starts with the antenna and it's location. I already suggested a preamp.
A preamp is not an antenna. The purpose of an amplifier is to overcome loss in cable and splitters than are connected to the amplifier output.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
