I usually go out of my way to talk people 'off the ledge' of of buying an amplified antenna...
You're in a tough spot, not being able to mount outdoors, in the clear. While I'm not whole-heatedly on board, you are in an 'exception to the rule' situation.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
