I don't think you're sounding negative... I worry that I've been.
For relatively few $'s worth of antenna, you'll be able to determine how much signal is available from Buffalo.
Hopefully, you'll be able to report back success.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
