I agree with DL, the antenna recommended by your friend has not developed a reputation for performance or reliability.

You may want to run a second TV Fool report using the height of your roof peak plus a 5 or 10 foot mast. I expect that most areas in Florida are relatively flat terrain so a few additional feet of antenna mounting height usually improves reception conditions.

I would lean in favor of DL's first suggestion, the XG-91 & YA-1713 combination.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
