The reflectors are the horizontal tubular things behind the bowtie whiskers (the wires arranged in an X-pattern). Once they're in place they lock, but you can coax them back by pulling on the tabs.
Reflectors stop reflecting signal then they're vertical, so if you rotate them in theory they will allow the antenna to get signals equally from the front and the back, at the cost of some signal strength.
