Please remember that grounding ANY antenna system is no guarantee that you will be immune from a lightning strike. Most 'strikes' happen a mile or more from the actual antenna. it is absolutely necessary to ground an antenna according to code, and this discharges all of the static electricity that builds up in the atmosphere around the antenna, but that does not immunize you from a direct lightning strike. Be sure that your homeowner's or renter's insurance is paid up...LOL
