I really like that XG91, it fixed some multipath dropouts on KPIX RF29 VC5.1 compared to when I had the DB4e aimed at Mt. Sutro. I would probably like to keep it.

But the DB4e points at Mt....

Plots are much better than a single number. The UHF antenna would actually see a very nice load up to 600MHz (-16dB R. L.). Your UVSJ performs well, especially over the UHF band once it is cut down...

Yes, that is how it works. The UHF antenna gain is 12 to 14 dB, so even with a noise margin of 10 dB (KBCW RF45 VC 44.1) I still get error-free reception. So (10+12)-15 leaves about 7 to 9dB for...

There was a tie on it, wasn't flapping.

I would ask for a link, but it is academic with stuff disappearing.

I missed the return loss specs. VHF at 18dB is great, UHF at 12dB just OK. It is a tricky design task, especially when it is supposed to cost nothing and have zero loss.

At least you guys...

Yes, that VHF Yagi w. reflector (?) is huge. But there is plenty of room up there, nothing but birds anyway. I'm not one to get too concerned over antenna aesthetics, if it works it's beautiful.

Although the Clearstream 5 is a nice antenna, I have little use for the broad beam and UHF gain. The Stellar Labs 30-2476 (http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/STELLAR-LABS-30-2476-/30-2476) does...

Looks like the DB4E was the way to go

I mounted the DB4E antenna to the chimney today on a 10' mast, 15' of high quality RG6, no preamp, Silicondust HDHR4 network tuner. It is a couple feet above the peak of the roof, about 24' above...

Thought about this some more and did the noise margin calculations for the worst-case 10dB stations. A big assumption in these calculations is 7dB noise figure for the Silicondust HDHR3 tuner, I...

Do you think the dB4E is enough for RF channels 42 (356 deg) and 45 (315 deg) at -80 dBm with the antenna pointed at 335 degrees? I guess the 60 degree beam angle of the less-directional dB4e might...
