TV Antenna Purchase Recommendations - Illinois
This website was referenced in an article in the Chicago Tribune this past Sunday. I don't have any idea about what type of antenna I need. This is a great website. Thank you. I did complete the TV Signal Analysis Report, and it is attached below:
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...a5435e7d976744 Currently, we have no TV service....dish or cable. The home is located in Galena, Illinois (northwest corner of Illinois....more hilly and a fair amount of trees). I would like to get an antenna (probably will need to be external) that would allow me access to some local stations and whatever else I can get. Once I purchase the antenna that you recommend, I will find someone to install. Your recommendations for an antenna would be greatly appreciated as I don't know what to buy. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Greg |

How many floors above ground level is the house? The higher the antenna the better. Please rerun the report with antenna as high as you think you can get it. Also how many tv's will be connected?

At best, expect to receive four stations, if you are willing to install a large UHF/VHF combination such as the CM3761B http://salestores.com/chma36ulcrse.html
A rotor will be needed. A high quality preamplifier will be needed. For example, http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...e_amp_kit.html The higher the antenna can be mounted the better. Here a some threads re. installers: http://forum.tvfool.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 A well qualified installer will have local knowledge and be equipped to put a test antenna in the air so that you can know what to expect from the completed install. |
