Antenna and set up questions
 

Hi All,

I have already cut my contract with my satellite provider and wish to install a roof antenna for OTA signals. Also, I have tried using a set-top antenna and it's just not feasible, due to the stucco/chicken wire on the house.Wind is a consideration as it can get really windy at its worst.

Looking at the above report it would seem the best direction for the antenna would be 270 degrees? Will the antenna be able to recieve the channels without any issues at 232 degrees?

My understanding is that the dish itself is useless for television frequencies so I will remove it and utilize the mount and cabling if possible for an antenna.I would like to hook up three tv's to the antenna via the existing cabling.

Mounting
I was planning on using the existing DishNetwork J mount for the antenna. After researching this briefly, it would seem that I may require a "joiner" that are used in chain link fences. This is if the antenna clamp doesn't fit the J-pipe.

Cabling
The cabling is split and then routed to the tv's throughout the house. Does anyone know if this will allow for the TV's to utilize the connections without problems? I have read that what may work for satellite may not necessarily work for OTA set ups.

So I guess in short I was wondering if there were any recommendations for antenna's along with any input on the set up I intend to use. Thanks in advance!

Yes looks like Antenna Craft AC9 antenna mounted above the roof will receive well at your location aimed at about 270 degree magnetic compass.

The AC9 has a Very Wide Angle of Reception at the front and back of the antenna. The AC9 will receive the Tv stations to the , north/west , west , south/west , south/east , north/east. Those are the directions the Tv transmitters are at.

The recommendation is based on the Current Plus Pending Applications of the Digital Channels of the tvfool radar plot for reception of the digital Tv stations/channels in the the Green and Yellow reception zones of the tvfool radar plot .

For one Tv connected do not use a splitter , For 2 Tv's connected use a 2 way splitter , for 3 Tv's connected use a 3 way splitter , For 4 Tv's connected use a Channel Master CM3414 distribution amplifier.

Also can use the CM3414 if you will like to try for the digital Tv stations/channels that are in the Red reception zone of the tvfool radar plot , with 3 or 4 Tvs connected. http://www.channelmasterstore.com

The Tv's Must scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Antenna Channels' or 'Air Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna. . Do Not scan for cable Tv channels.

The "J" pole should work provided it gives you a clear view towards the stations, if not you can move it. The "U" bolt on your new antenna may need to be spread a little to allow it to go over the J pole diameter, but most of the U bolts provided with antennas will work. Your satellite cable is compatable to OTA, but not the splitters. Replace them as recommended above.
