Fiberglass mast from ebay

I see these military grade fiberglass mast sections on ebay all the time, I live in a rural area and was wondering if these mast sections at 25 feet or more preform well as a long term installation. The poles are in 4 foot sections with guy wire ect. Anyone use these?

Given only 4 foot sections each , that is very short , how high can it go and still remain stable. Does not sound good to me. Is this for a tv antenna??

This is an example, there are several of these auctions on ebay.

Well does not cost much to put it to the test of an installation with a tv antenna. Go head and do it and keep us informend of how well it works.

Sometimes one can very easily obtain, sometimes free, carbon fibre windsurf masts with broken bases.
Simple to saw off the base (using proper dust/particle masks of course).

They don't react well to metal fastenings but wooden collars at the mount points can be easily fashioned and then the whole rig clamped as a steel mast would be, taking into consideration that the OD on these masts are approx 2 to 2.125 inches...... maybe less prone to lightning strikes??

After thinking about it, I don't think I am going to trust $200 worth of antenna equipment on a maybe untried solution. Think I will go with a channel master galvanized telescoping pole.

Thanks for the replies.
