Another Antenna Question for you guys
 

I am looking for antenna. I consider myself a pretty tech person with computers, HTPC setups; however this is my first time looking at OTA reception. I’m just not sure about the distance, NM(dB), angle stuff and dont really care to dive into it if i don't have to. I have no existing antenna or amp. I will be running this through HDHomerun (http://www.silicondust.com/products/hdhomerun/atsc/) or AVerMedia AVerTVHD Duet PCTV tuner (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815100044) when I build a my new HTPC.
I have the links below for 15 feet and 30 feet. I live in a single family home roof is about 15 feet, but I don’t think the 15 will work for me so if I have to install at 30 feet I can. The main channels I am trying to get are your basic ones: PBS, ABC, CW, CBS, FOX, and NBC for the wife, as I use Hulu, ESPN3, roku and etc. for my stuff. It seems to be that most of these are directionally southwest. So would I just need a High Gain directional UHF/VHF antenna? Would I need an amp has well? Not really sure also if I would need a rotor either?

The increase in signal strength makes mounting at 30' worth the effort. You'll still need a large high gain antenna though.

A couple of options to consider:

1) A Winegard HD7698P & Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp. Aimed at about 245° per your compass. You would expect to see the stations to the SW down to the bottom of the red section of your report, except for WUOA which carries 'This TV' network.

2) A Winegard HD8200U & the same preamp would give you a fairly good chance of adding WUOA to the line-up.

Install a Winegard HD8200U All channel antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp. Aim the antenna at about 205 degree magnetic compass. The HD7698P antenna is a big antenna and the HD8200U antenna is a big antenna so go with the HD8200U antenna and have shot at receiving WUOA also. If you do not have antenna mount. The Tv/s Must Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels. In the Tv menu sometimes called the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna channels' because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to your receiving antenna. Do Not scan for cable tv channels.

The All channel HD8200U antenna receives All the channels , VHF low band channels 2 thru 6 , VHF high band 7 thru 13 , UHF 14 thru 69. . The HD7698P antenna receives , VHF high band 7 thru 13 and UHF 14 thru 69.
