Need help with antenna recommendations

This is my TVFool report - http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...b7c86648503ee9. I only care about the first ten stations.

I am in a split level house with a small hill in the backyard.

I have been presently using (got it from a friend) an Antenna like this one - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140375874768. It actually works pretty good (when in my basement) with some rare cutout.

But I need to make my reception more stable as I am about to turn off cable entirely.

I understand I need a directional and a preamp. Anyone have any suggestions?

You shouldn't have any difficulty receiving the KC stations cleanly where you are. All of the stations operate on UHF, and are less than 30 miles from your location. I would recommend roof-mounting a screen-type UHF antenna aimed at 150 degrees as measured by your compass. Good antenna choices include the Channel master 4221 HD, the Winegard HD-4400 and the AntennasDirect DB-4.

If you have only one TV set, and your cable run from antenna to TV is less than 75', I don't believe that you'll need a preamplifier, but if you plan to run multiple TV sets or have very long cable runs, consider a Winegard HDP-269 preamp and a splitter, which will allow you to run up to 4 TV sets from the antenna without signal loss. Here is a list of the recommended equipment and an installation guide.

Want to improve

Since it has been a few years and I am actually getting okay reception with that cheap Lava antenna, I'd thought I'd see if there is a better antenna out there now (or ask for recommendations). My updated report is at
