Noob looking for Antenna Advice

Hi,

Well like most that end up here as I'm looking to get rid of my satellite in favour of OTA. I really don't watch much TV, but would like to watch the occasional hockey game HD without the monthly bill.

My main issue is that I'm approximately 50 miles from a major city, in a valley and not sure how much I'd have to invest to get it to work.

here's my signal analysis:

Although I'd love to get as many channels as possible my main objective are getting the top 3. (GTN,CTV and CBC)

I tried an indoor Terk FDTV1a and got snowy reception from GTV and CTV, so I'm assuming these are analog signals. My HD TV is in the basement and I'm guessing I may have gotten all three had I been upstairs, but still not digital HD.

I have only two TV's I'd like to connect.

The RG6 from the satellite dish outside goes to both TVs, so should I assume I could use an outdoor antenna and use the RG6 connection?

Any help, advice etc .... would be appreciated...

THanks!

Tv Antennas and Reception

Tvfool is being up dated after the Canada , August the 31 2011 digital change. The up date is a Big Project and will not happen over night. The Pending Applications Included is from before August 31 2011. The * next to the stations call sign show that it is speculative report. Not all Canada tv stations changed to digital , many are still analog and will be for a long time. Canada will have a mix of digital and analog tv stations for a long time. I recommend a Channel Master CM3679 All Channel Antenna mounted on a CM9521A rotor. The all channel antenna will receive all the tv channels , 2 thru 6 , 7 thru 13 , 14 thru 69. Tvfool is showing that tv stations are all around your location so the rotor will aim the antenna at them. I recommend go to the http://www.digitalhome.ca , forum for your area to get more information and updated information. Thanks John! ... I must say I was surprised to pick up analog channels, see the deadlines I kept hearing were August 2011.

I'll take a look at the links you posted.

Thanks again for the info.
