Need antenna advice
We are wanting to get away from $80 per month. What antenna would you suggest for me. I'm clueless but willing to learn. We will only have 1 tv hooked up to the antenna. Thanks in advance

Two possibilities for roof mount: HBU-33 HD7694P If you want to try the attic consider the larger HBU-55 or HD 7698P. |
From your TV Fool report:

You will be able to move the pointer to the exact location of the proposed antenna and the generate a 'radar plot' which you can link to in your post. |
Tv Antennas and Reception
Based on the street location and not the exact address. I recommend a Winegard HD7000R antenna aimed at about 314 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html. Based on the updated TVFR, I'd suggest the HD7698P mounted outside in the clear, aimed at 285° compass. I would also recommended a preamp such as the Antennas Direct CPA-19.

Tv Antennas and Reception
Based on the new tvfool report I recommend a Winegard HD7000R for the stations/channels in the green and yellow zones. For also the reception of the stations/channels in the , green , yellow And Red Zone , I recommend a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp. Aimed at about 314 degree magnetic compass.

Thanks guys I will look into both and keep you updated.

Tv antennas and Tv reception
Looking at the second tvfool radar report of the Pending Applications Included of Only Digital Tv stations/channels , more digital broadcast tv channels should be received then the first two , WSB-TV Real digital channel 31 ABC and WGTV-DT real digital Tv channel 8 PBS will be received. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. If no more then the first two are received then there is a problem with the antenna or the matching transformer (balun) that is attached to the antenna , the coax that goes from the matching transformer to the CPA-19 or the coax goes from the CPA-19 preamp unit close to the antenna to the CPA-19 power supply unit or the coax that goes from the power supply unit to the Tv. A way to 'prove out' the reception of the antenna the coax and the Tv is to , connect one long length of coax to the antenna Tv. One long length of coax , No splitters , No coax couplers , No preamplifier , No nothing , just one long length of coax from the antenna Direct to the Tv. Run the one length of coax through a open door , Direct to the digital Tv.

Tv antennas and Tv reception
The best place to connect the power supply transformer and the power inserter of the CPA-19 preamp is to Same Coax that is connected to the preamp unit that is located close to the antenna. The power inserter must be connected correctly. The power inserter looks like a splitter but it is not. Check ALL connections. One port of the power inserter is where the power supply is connected , one port of the power inserter goes to the preamp unit and one port goes to the Tv.

Update seems the last few months have been nice with NO high bill for tv. When the sun comes up over our trees we get a little static on the tv also when the sun is setting. But in the last two days it is getting bad when the sun is directly over the house say 3 or 4pm. Is the sunrays effecting my signal? And last night it went on after the sun set. Any suggestions. I think I'm going to unplug the amp this morning to maybe reset it.

ALL questions and answers about broadcast tv reception and More.
If you will like to try reception without the preamp.
Simply unpluging the preamp will shut the preamp off and the preamp will become a attenuator. ALL parts of the preamp must be disconnected if you will like to try reception without the preamp , the outside part , the inside parts. ALL parts. Yes the sun can blast the signal and reduce or bloc the signal. Also check -> ALL <- connections. Has water entered any of the outside connections?? The starting aim direction of the antenna is the , starting aim direction , the antenna can be turned to find a aim direction that is best signal for the tv stations/channels you will like to receive. |
All has been going great. But now 36.1,36.2, and 36.3 have been breaking up or no signal. All others are coming in crystal clear. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you verify what antenna you're using? Also, your original TV Fool report has expired. A link to a new report would hep us understand your situation better.
Has any moisture gotten into any cable or connectors, the symptom you describe make me think of that right away. Then, have any trees grown up into the path? Again, a common problem that will manifest as you describe. |
