Need Help With Antenna Selection

Hi,
My husband and I have an RCA antenna it is a 43 element for hd with an RCA TVPRAMP1R preamplifier. Sometimes we will get 30 channels. Usually that is in the evening and for a short time in the morning. Then we will only get maybe four to five channels. Our reception is so sporadic We have decided to put up a new antenna.
This is our tvfool report:

We will mount it outside 35 feet off the ground
We will have 2 tv connections

Thank you for antenna suggestions.

Your plan to mount outdoors and at 35' puts you at an advantage. Lower or attic mounting would give you less signal to start with.

The weak signals to the south of you call for a large antenna such as the Winegard HD7698P. I would also suggest replacing the preamplifier with an Antennas Direct CPA-19.

If there is any possibility that the existing coax has moisture in it, replace it.

Your TVfool report raises more questions.

Where is your current antenna aimed? The most available stations are from INDY at 186°, but that's 50+ miles away. yet, when aimed in that direction, reliable reception of your local stations may be compromised. There are also a group of stations to the North that can be received.

If you are a football fan, you have four CBS affiliates and two FOX stations which probably carry different regional games and perhaps avoid some blackouts. Try the the506.com http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk1.html to see how you would be effected this week and decide which stations you'd like to pick up.
