Antenna Recommendation / Selection
 

Hello...I would like assistance in selecting an antenna for my location. Location information.

I have a two story house and plan on installing the antenna on my gable facing north east. As I look at the transmitters located @ 60 degrees there is a line of large mature trees 50 to 60'along the left edge of my line of sight.

Would the channel master 3018 be enough antenna for me?

I would like to run six drops for TV’s throughout my house.

I'd rather use a Winegard HD7084P. The performance is well documented, Channel Master has dumbed down regarding the specifications published on their web site, offering a mileage rating is far less accurate than specifying gain referenced to a standard.

All of this assumes WOCK, real channel 4 is a 'must have' station. http://www.rabbitears.info/market.ph...n=WOCK#station

If you have no interest in WOCK programming, a Winegard HD7694 mounted at or above your second story roof peak would do quite well.

To distribute to six tuners, I would suggest an Antennas Direct CPA-19 and a passive 8-way splitter, terminate the unused ports with 75 ohm terminators.

Are you saying that you have a CM3018 now?? If so then install it and aim it at 61 degree magnetic compass. Install a CM3418 distribution amplifier inside the house and have a coax from each Tv location go to a output port on the distribution amplifer. If you do not have a CM 3018 now , then I recommend a Winegard HD7082P antenna , aim the Tv antenna at 61 degree magnetic compass. With the CM3418 distribution amplifier inside the house and have a coax from each Tv location go to a output port on the distribution amplifier. John Candle: Thanks for the information. No I do not own the CM3018 so I will consider the Winegard HD7082P verses the HD7084P. I will also take a look at the distribution amplifier you and GroundUrMast mentioned.

You'd be better off with an antenna rated for channels 7-69 instead of 2-69. Channel 6 is an FM station, channel 4 is Spanish.

My choice would be a Winegard HD 7696P with a Channel Master 3418 distribution amplifier.

I strongly recommend the the reception of WOCK , for http://www.americaone.com channel. And Arirang , http://www.arirang.co.kr/index.asp very interesting channel. The HD7082P antenna will work Ok , it is a all channel antenna that receives 2 thru 6 VHF low band , VHF 7 thru 13 VHF high band , UHF 14 thru 69. Yes also you can use the HD7084P antenna.

TowerGuy: I liked the Winegard HD-7696P too, but Winegard has seen fir to discontinue that antenna: the choice now is either the HD-7695p or the HD-7697P

Well with all this additional information I think I will give the HD7082P a try along with the Channel Master 3418 distribution amplifier.

Another question would I be able to pull in most of the FM stations with the HD7082P antenna or should I mount a separate antenna for FM reception? Something like the AntennaCraft FMSS mounted below the Winegard they says its good to 50 miles.

A separate FM antenna and separate coax to a FM tuner is always the best. Install the FM antenna a few feet above or below the tv antenna. Or better yet , some distance away from the tv antenna.

John Candle: I get the picture now so I assume the FM antenna by AntennaCraft FMSS will do the job for my location.
