Best Antenna?
I am looking to cut the cable and install an outdoor rooftop antenna. My zip code is 49504. My location is fairly flat with some large trees around. I have a two story house that sits high. The peak of my roof is probably 30 feet off the ground.
Can you suggest a good antenna for me? |

Please make and post a radar report with the exact address and expected antenna height. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=4

I like its look and easy installation, but am afraid it may not get as many channels as would a larger conventional antenna. Appreciate any responses. |
An amplified antenna such as the MS2000 could be overloaded by the strong signals from WXSP, WTLJ and WXMI. I would recommend against the MS2000 and any other antenna with a built-in amplifier.
Are you interested in receiving every possible channel? Or do you have a list of 'must-have' channels? |

Go to the neighbors and see if . WXSP MyNetwork , WTLJ Religion , WXMI FOX - Antenna Tv - This Tv , WGVU PBS , are being received , they are the strong channels that might overload the amplifier in the MS2000. If these channels are being received then you should be Ok also. I say give the MS2000 a try. Please note that omnidirectional antennas are not really 100 % omnidirectional and my need to turn the antenna for best reception and then tighten the clamps. If you receive Tv stations down to W17DF-D 17 you will be doing fine. The stations that are below W17DF have co channel interference and adjacent channel interference so even with a better antenna you will still have reception problems with some of the co channel / adjacent channel interference channels. . Buy googling the stations call letters like this , w17df tv , I found that w17df tv is FOX - Antenna Tv - This Tv . w48cl tv is 3ANB 3 Angles Broadcasting Network , wuhq tv is ABC - The Cool Tv .

You can use the cable tv coax for the antenna hook up , how ever Do Not connect the antenna and active cable service on to the same cable line at the same time. No active cable Tv , No active cable internet service , No active cable phone service. on the same cable line or lines that have the antenna connected also.

I am only interested in getting the stations on the list down to W17DF-D. I think I will buy the MS2000 and see how well it works. If it overloads the strong stations I will return it. Do you guys have any suggestions on where I should buy it? |

I have an old satellite dish on my roof. The dish is not functioning. I have seen ads showing the MS2000 mounted to the dish mount. Is this a good idea? |

- The MS-2000 can only accomodate a mast diameter of up to 1-3/4". Make sure the mast is not too big for the mount attachment. - Does the mount location give the antenna good visibility to the horizon in all directions? The antenna can't pull in the stations if the building is blocking the signals. - Antennas work best when there is nothing around them. Make sure the antenna is clear of any obstructions as much as possible, especially anything metal. |
Thanks.
I just spoke with a antenna wholesale distributor and he claimed they do not carry the MS2000 any longer because of too many returns due to parts failing within a few months. He recommended the Channel Master 3000A. Any thoughts on that antenna? As I understand it, it is very similar with the same as the MS2000. |

After you have had some time evaluate the 3000A for , reception and quality and what ever else you think about it. Please tell us here at this post that you have started , do not start a new post as it causes confusion. I am always gathering information about antennas and Tv reception , also what is the name , address and phone number and web site of the wholesale distributor , Thank you. Yes the dish mast mount is Ok to mount the 3000A. Mount the 3000A level with the ground , not tipped at odd angles or standing on end. Also as mtownsend said , it is best to mount the 3000A so it is clear of obstructions as much as possible nothing blocking the view of the antenna of all directions.
