Suggestions for distant NBC

I live in Cheyenne, WY and can receive all four networks and PBS with my current attic-mount Winegard MS1000. The NBC station, however, is a low-power analog signal. I would like to try to receive KUSA 9 in Denver since it is the nearest digital NBC signal but it is over 100 miles away. Would it even be feasible to go after this signal with an antenna mounted outdoors?

Any ideas?

The default antenna height is 10 feet , please make a new radar map with the antenna at 25 feet. To receive KUSA 9 you will need a large above the roof UHF /VHF directional antenna . I recommend a Winegard HD7698P antenna. To say more I need to see the radar map antenna height at 25 feet. And in addition to KUSA 9 , you will receive several other denver area station.

Is there any thing in the direction to Denver area like large buildings or large trees??

There are no large trees or structures in the direction of Denver.

Reception of KUSA, real ch9 will require quite a bit of effort.

This is a DX hobby situation that will need a very large antenna such as a Wade Diamond Quad which should be custom built and tuned to reduce the adjacent channel interference from KWYP, real ch8.

Personally, I would have a very difficult time putting so much money and effort into such a project due to the marginal chances for success. However, I could justify experimenting with a home built Rhombic or attempting to build a dual stacked array of Antennacraft Y10-7-13's. I have plugged in the coordinates from your last TVFR, using 80' the situation changes very little, but I would still mount as high as safety and budget would permit.

I'd start with one Y10-7-13 and try to find the optimum height. If you're lucky you'll find the spot with 6 db more signal.

The slight downslope toward Denver is a good thing.

Next, see how often it drops out to find if a second antenna is worth the effort and cost.

These neighbors have their antennas aimed at Denver with heights of 25-35'.

Ok I am running the numbers. You will be using a Big Antenna the Winegard HD7698P antenna. I will be back with the rest of the information , I think you will be happy with the answer.

I recommend a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a Winegard AP8700 preamp aimed at about 195 true - 187 degree magnetic compass. The antenna and preamp will be mounted outside and will be 20 to 25 feet high , about as high as a 2 story house. The antenna and preamp Will Not be connected to your other antenna. Do Not connect the two antennas together. The RG-6 coax of the HD7698P and AP8700 preamp will go the the location of the Tv. At the location of the Tv there will be a remote control A/B antenna switch , a AB27RS or radio shack 15-1968. If will be connecting to more the one Tv let me know how many Tv's.

Is the house a one or two story house?? What is your idea to get the antenna 15 to 20 feet high?? I can help with mounting if you can tell me more. This is a Big antenna and will need a Strong and Sturdy mount.
