Suggestions for antenna
1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on an antenna. I'd like to mount this on the roof of my one story suburban, North Carolina ranch. I live in a wooded area of pine trees. Its a concern but the trees aren't super dense. I've included a picture which is pretty much representative.
Here's my radar plot. I'd love to be able to pick up both CBS and Fox. They're both about 43 miles away, And ABC, CW, NBC are about 33 miles and 180 degrees from the first two. And anything else would be a bonus. Thoughts? |
What did you use for an ANTENNA

For the height, I put in 20 ft (low house). Is that what you mean?

Welcome to the forum, raym
Thank you for the report and the photo Trees wiil block TV signals, but it is difficult to predict how much. TVFool is using a defective database, so there are some errors in your report: http://forum.tvfool.com/attachment.p...7&d=1526607084 The list of channels from a rabbitears.info report is probably more accurate, but there are many changes going on because of UHF Repack by the FCC which will limit UHF to 14-36. http://forum.tvfool.com/attachment.p...8&d=1526607113 WTVD will be moving to real VHF High channel 9 https://www.rabbitears.info/market.p...&callsign=WTVD WNCN will be moving from UHF channel 17 to VHF-High channel 8 https://www.rabbitears.info/market.p...&callsign=WNCN WRAL from 48 to 17 https://www.rabbitears.info/market.p...&callsign=WRAL and WRAZ from 49 to 15 https://www.rabbitears.info/market.p...&callsign=WRAZ It looks like they will be in the same direction. You will need a UHF/VHF combo antenna like the Winegard HD7694P or 7698P. You might need a preamp, but try it first without. If the antenna is outside, the coax shield should be grounded with a grounding block that is connected to the house electrical system ground with 10 gauge copper wire for electrical safety and to reject interference. For further compliance with the electrical code (NEC), the mast should also be grounded in a similar manner to drain any buildup of static charge which will tend to discourage a strike, but the system will not survive a direct strike. http://forum.tvfool.com/attachment.p...9&d=1441917363 |
Thanks Rabbit73, that's nice. The data is a lot more clear.
