Antenna recommendation
I am wanting to setup an antenna preferbly indoor, but I will do an outdoor if that is what is needed to get good reception. I live down in a valley on the third floor of an apartment with the balcony facing NNW. I am just trying to decide what is going to be the best antenna setup (indoor, outdoor, or smaller outdoor antenna inside?) for my living situation. Any advice would be appreciated and the link below is my tvfool results.

Tv Antennas and Reception
How many Tv's will be connected?? To start with , you can try one of these Non amplified indoor tv antennas , http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=233 . Point the antenna at about 350 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to p[oint tv antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html . . Also read and understand this about , Real Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , Virtual Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , Analog Broadcast Tv Channels , http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=695. . The Tv needs to receive the broadcast digital channels , not cable tv channels.

It will be just one tv... I am just concerned about being in a valley and using a small indoor antenna to pick up channels clearly (but this will be the first time using an antenna). Do the distances seem like a pretty far spread for this kind of setup?
Thanks for the links I will definately be using those.... I am thinking about giving this one a try http://www.amazon.com/Indoor-Passive...5149922&sr=8-1 |
Tv Antennas and Reception
Yes the spread from KCPQ-DT 13 and KWDK-DT 42 is very wide. The best way to find out for reception is set up an indoor antenna and see what you can get. . . Or if you will like to put a antenna outside then I suggest a Channel Master CM 3010 without the optional amplifier , and a FC-300LX flat coax for the patio door. . For the most part there is no perfect solution for apartment reception.

Even though your are in the Kent / Auburn Valley, you are in one of the better locations in the Seattle / Tacoma area. You have a near perfect shot toward Queen Anne and Capitol Hill where most of the major networks broadcast from. You also have a reasonably good shot at West Tiger Mt. where ION and some independents are located.
If you can't get KCPQ on channel real CH-13, they simulcast at half the bit-rate on VC-22.2 (real CH-25, KZJO). |
Alright, well looks like I have a good start off point... thanks guys for the advice and help!
