Equipment recommendation request
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...dfaf31196a6fd8
Hi, I am for sure cutting the cord and would like some equipment help. I would need indoor items because of HOA. I might be able to get away with a small outdoor ant, if it is a small as a dish or direct tv type. But I would still prefer indoor if I can. I have decent tech skills but I am clueless in this area :) Thanks SVH |
Your signals are all the same direction and you are very close to the towers so all that you should need is an indoor bowtie or loop
The clear stream 1 would easily gather enough signal to feed all your TVs |
Since you're literally in the shadow of the Miami towers, almost anything un-amplified should work.
For kicks, straighten a paper clip, insert it into the coax connector on your TV set and run your channel scan. (Yes, I'm serious!) |
Wow!
I have never seen a report with signals that strong. Quote:
But you probably don't need an outside antenna because of a lot of signals highlighted in red indicating possible overload according to tvfool definitions. However, the report assumes your antenna will be outside and in the clear. ADTech will tell you that your signals might not be as strong as listed because when you are so close to the towers, the strongest part of the beam is well above your location. |
RF alley
Yours is one of the FEW locations where those as seen on TV stick antennas will actually work LOL
|
Thanks for the answers everyone. I tried the paper clip and I did get all the channels I wanted except for CBS. So that is great news and I am guessing the antenna will rectify that. Fortunately when I had my house wired for cat 5 I also had coax run to every location. The paper clip is actually working from the hub in my garage that is on the other side of the house :)

Might need a longer paper clip for channel 10! ;)
Seriously, though, a ClearStream 1V or 2V, mounted in a suitable location, should work very well. Best of luck! |
Thanks everyone. I got a clear stream 1 on Amazon for $10 (with prime used)
It is working great. I found it works much better if I leave the metal screen type thing off of it. I can't wait to tell Frontier to cut my cable :D |
Thanks for the report.
Glad to hear it works well for you. |
