reception (central new jersey area)
Good day!
My TVFOOL report is located at http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...dfafad8107ada7 I am in a location where my cable company delivers both NY and Philly stations. In the past when I had an antenna and rotor, I was able to receive both NY and Philly analog stations. I currently have an Antenna's Direct DB8e installed on the roof. It is attached to a SAMSUNG TV with no splitters and 50' of cable. I have the antenna pointing to 46 degrees true north. I am only concerned with New York stations especially WNYW (5.1) because I am a NY Giants football fan. With my current setup, I cannot receive WABC channel 7, WNYW (HD) channel 5.1 or WNBC channel 4.1. I can receive 5.3 which is WNYW (SD). I also understand that WABC is VHF and my antenna may not be currently capable of VHF, but I understand I can purchase a separate VHF antenna. I don't really care about WABC for now, but why can't I get WNYW (HD) or WNBC???? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jim |

WNYW is swamped by WNJT on channel 43 with a margin of about 50 dB. WNBC is bracketed on both sides by WGTW and WUVP by more than 35 dB each. Quote:

So, there is no hope of me picking up WNYW ota??
Thank you for the very detailed explanation. |
Only if you can eliminate WNJT or move twenty miles closer to NYC.
Since the channels will be getting repacked in a few years, things will be changing. The new channel allocations will likely become public sometime in 2017. |
