help with old antenna

Hello, I posted this same question earlier without images because I didn't know how to resize them, but some kind members enlightened me..lol

I have an old outdoor antenna that I don't know if it's going to work. I only neeed the channels within 30 miles north and south of my house. The antenna is mounted about 30 feet in the air.
I know I need a balun, but where do I connect it to on the antenna.
Very new to this so bear with me, and thank you in advance.

Interesting antenna. Looks like it is for VHF real channels 2-13. Most of your channels are UHF with the exception of WKRC on CH 12. You would need something like an RCA ANT751 or a Winegard HD7694P, no amp.

You have some very strong FM signals that might cause interference. I don't have your exact address, so I used your short coordinates to make an FMFOOL report. Insert an FM trap, or 2 in series.

You would probably connect the balun to the center of one of the long elements (maybe the middle one), where there should be 2 wing nuts. I would need a closeup to tell for certain.

Even if your antenna doesn't look like it's the right one for your signals, you should try it first if you can get to it easily.

thank you so much for your info and help. Am I to assume that the FM signals you mentioned would interfere with my TV signal, and that there is some type of device that would be installed to filter them out? Also, these two antenna models that you suggested, should they be mounted in a certain direction facing either north or south, or are they multi-directional?

That is correct. They are so strong that they would most likely interfere. The device is called an FM trap or FM filter. There are 3 brands that I suggested I my previous post, MCM, Radio Shack, and Antennas Direct. You will probably need two in series to make your FM signals weak enough to avoid interference.

They are both directional. Either one should work, but I favor the 7694. Your antenna needs to be aimed directly at the transmitters; think of a searchlight vs a flood light. I suggest 201 degrees magnetic for the best results with WKRC CBS.
