Problem with getting VHF channels
1 Attachment(s)
Ok, I think I know what my problem is, here is my TV Fool signal report. If have the following antenna (http://www.amazon.com/Amplified-Digi...rds=hd+antenna)
I am pointed to 311 degrees in my attic. I am getting CBS (Real 43- 50% signal strength), NBC (Real 36 - 75% Signal strength) and CW (Real 31- 75% Signal strength). I am not getting Fox (Real 11) and ABC (Real 7). My thinking is my antenna isn't good enough to get the VHF channels (Real 7-13). So, would this be fixed with a better antenna? If so which antenna would you recommend? |
Try taking your antenna up on the roof first. Installation in an attic is a significant handicap.
Can you post an actual link to your TVFR? I'd want to see the specs from the antenna manufacturer that gives the antenna gain for each band. A small antenna will typically not pick up VHF channels well, if at all, and the attic installation will make this worse. This looks like the Lava antenna, and one of the posters on Amazon says it's the same as the Lava. You can read old posts about the Lava: https://www.google.com/search?q=site...m+lava+antenna |
Sorry for my ignorance, what is TVFR? Is it a link to the TV Fool signal report, if so here it is:

Which CBS do you get, KCBS from Mt. Wilson? And KNBC? How much do you want to spend? |
I am guessing I am getting KCBS-DT Real 43 and KNBC-DT Real 40. I am spending 80 bucks with direct tv and want to switch to antenna for network and slingtv for everything else. I would be willing to spend a 100-200 bucks or more bc I would make it up in the long run.

What about the roof?
|
I will try the roof, but I am sure my HOA will make me take it down. I was hoping for an attic solution.
