Suggestions for a new antenna

Hi!

I need some suggestions on an outside HDTV antenna for a windy area. Here is my location: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...2c15f1fe119c07. I live on top of a hill, among lots of trees, and rural. Any ideas or tips would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Read here about "Trees and UHF." http://www.hdtvprimer.com/antennas/siting.html

You may never get good reception until you put your antenna above the tree line, or can aim through a gap in the trees. You should also simulate some additional height for your antenna, to see reception much improves.

First, what height did you use for your TV Fool Report? I'd re-run it at the estimated height of your antenna (you can use roof height + 5 feet as a reasonable estimate). If you used "0" it could make a big difference in the signal quality.

What channels do you want? One of each network? Or maybe as many as is possible (i.e., Johnstown + Pittsburgh)?

If this were me I'd be greedy and want both. I'd probably use an Antennas Direct DB-8e for UHF with one panel aimed at about 43 degrees on a compass and the other at about 308 degrees. Then experiment and adjust. For VHF, your Fox-8 is pretty strong and should be received by any outdoor antenna. Therefore I'd go use something like a Y10713 for the Pittsburgh VHF stations.

If you just want Johnstown, you should be happy with an HBU-33 aimed at about 43 degrees.

Wait for others to post. There are other useful antennas.

Thanks for your suggestions. I currently have a small Radio Shack rectangle shaped on the side of a tree.........5' high. So any other antenna would probably make a huge difference. Now if hubby will take your suggestions too!
