Antenna advice reqest - central New Jersey
Hi guys,
I'd like to ask for some advice regarding antenna selection for 2 locations in central NJ. My dad and I decided to cut the cable/etc cords. He doesn't watch much and is/would be fine with a few OTA channels, where as I have 2 smalls kids so all we watch now-a-days is Mickey Mouse club, etc...mostly streaming via *flix, or over local content. Anyway, Reports for both locations: 1. Sayreville, NJ http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...d2434d24d1dd9b 2. Morganville, NJ: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...d243a1a4a02575 Now, Before anyone puts any effort into this (which will be greatly appreciated anyway) - I have read quite a number of random threads, but also any that I could find pertaining to NJ. Should I simply follow "teleview's" advice from this thread, and just adjust aim slightly? http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.p...ghlight=jersey Old bridge (this that thread) is approximately 10 miles away from my house, due North-West (more so west). Sayreville is another 5 miles NW from me. Dad/Sayreville has roof access in a townhouse and I see a few Sat dishes over th ecomplex, so I don't think I need to worry about installing a roof-mounted antenna. He has no obstructions in NY and PA directions. I/Morganville have some hemlock trees right along the property line, but I think I'll be able to trim these down and/or extend my antenna in height. Both to be mounted on 2 story houses, with 'average' pitch. Thank you all for reading and for your help. -99 I/Morgnaville |
BUMP...but I gotta tell you this:
Traveled for work to NYC the last few days (about 1hr ride each way), and as I sat there on the trains, refusing to engage in cell-phonery (like the 99% of the rest of the riders), I just looked on throught he window to see where I can spot a roof antenna and how often. ....one outta a thousand houses - I'm note even kidding. Very rare sight in the sub-NYC suburbia. For what it's worth... -99 |
I would opt for a medium sized channel 7-51 antenna. HBU-44 or HD7694P aimed at New York City.

Can you guys tell me how high can I safely mount an antenna with chimney straps?
What's the limit of a mast height? I'd rather not worry about things toppling over or flying away from me. :) Thanks. |
