Help installing antenna to catch DC's redskins games
Hello guys, I'm glad I found this site. I moved to Maryland, can't watch the redskins game because they are not broadcasted where I live. I can't put the antenna on my roof because of my strict HOA so I might have to install it on the attic of my house. Now I know this might not be the ideal spot but I just moved and I had to talk to the HOA people twice already. I don't want to be looked as a problematic neighboor you know?
Could you guys help me with these questions? - Where can I purchase decent equipment? Do you guys have links? - Code:
thrasherx - I'm trying to catch FOX 5 DC (WTTG 36) and NBC (WRC-DT 48) - Here are my tvfool reports: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...d243e32f8a0950 Thanks so much in advance guys, I hope I can get this sorted out. |

Repaired TVFool plot link: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...d243e32f8a0950 Expecting to get WTTG and WRC with an attic-placed antenna is probably an unreasonable expectation, but it depends much on the attenuation of the building materials and also what's outside - trees, buildings, and the like, in the signal path. Best bet would be a directional, high-gain UHF antenna if you're focusing specifically on those two stations. You'll likely get most, if not all, of your Baltimore locals off the back of just about anything, again dependent on the attenuation variables already mentioned. |

Others will make recommendations, but mine is the Y5-7-13 VHF antenna aimed at compass 238 degrees for Washington stations real channels 7 (WJLA-ABC) and 9 (WUSA-CBS) and a DB-8e for the UHF channels, including real channel 35 (WTTG-Fox) and 48 (NBC-WRC). You're also likely to get most of the DC stations. The Baltimore stations will be picked up on the backside.
It makes sense to try it in the attic, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work well. Make sure to try it in all areas of the attic facing the correct direction measured with a real compass. |
