Making my own RG6 coax cables. Leave foil on?

I picked up some tools (cutter, compression crimper, & PPC compression connectors & RG6 cable).

When I cut/score the cable to prep for the compression connector, it has braids that I know has to be pulled back over the cable jacket. Then there's foil that is stuck on the white center around the copper conductor. I'm reading conflicting info about leaving this foil on vs removing the foil. Can a pro shed some knowledge on this?

Thanks

I always leave the foil shield in place. Smooth it down after folding all the braid back, then slide the connector on, careful to avoid the foil catching and bunching in the inner tube of the connector.
