Lost one channel
I have great reception except for WLKY. It was working fine and all of a sudden it disappeared. It started with pixalation and freezes then it left. I am using an RCA ANT751 and RCA TVPRAMP1R 15 foot up in the air. I replaces the 75 ohm balun that came with the ant. with one from Radio Shack and and that did improve my over all picture. I am using the rg6 that was used with my Dish Network and it has a grounding in block in line.

Aim the antenna at about 9 degree magnetic compass direction. Here is how to aim antenna , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna , do not trust a cell phone compass. --------------------------- As a Test of reception connect a NEW Continues Length of Coax to the matching transformer and run the NEW Continues length of coax through a open door or window direct to 1 Tv , No Preamplifier Unit , No Power Injector/Power supply. No couplers , No splitters , No etc. . -------------------------- Digital tuners can develop -Digital Glitches- that are not cleared out with simple channel scans. To clear tuner do Double Rescan. http://www.wchstv.com/DoubleReScanAlert.pdf. --------------------------- The Tv station may be having transmitter situations. Can call the Tv station and ask for the Engineering Department. Have a Informational Chat with the Engineering Department. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WLKY.html. --------------------------- |
Based on your TV Fool report, I'd suggest an antenna that has more gain than the ANT-751.
Antennas such as the Winegard HD7698P, Antennacraft HBU-44 or HBU-55 would be appropriate in your application. Are the trees starting to put on leafs? |
+1 for GUM's suggestion. Personally, I might run with a HBU55.
The ANT751 is not the antenna that is ideal for a 11.5 db signal with a 2-edge obstruction. I'm actually amazed you got the ANT751 to see the signal at all. I've found with mine, the bleeding edge of reception performance is about 15 - 17 db signal strength in line of sight conditions (no preamp on mine). Bringing in 1 or 2 edge into the equation on anything below 25 db or so and you are better investing in stronger antenna that is built for weak signals. The ANT751 while a nice effective local to suburban antenna with line of sight, you are well beyond its performance capabilities asking it to provide reliable reception of WLKY. Cheers, SS |
Make sure that it's not trouble on the broadcaster end of things. I spent many hours
on a "lost" previously working channel, only to find it had nothing to do with my end. The station ignored me however, but a friend that worked in the building told me that it was a transmitter problem |
