VHF Reception in Los Gatos Hills
I live in the foothills between Saratoga and Los Gatos , CA. I currently have a roof-mounted DB8 approximately 16 ft AGL, and get good reception from the UHF channels transmitting from Sutro Tower. However, our local NBC affiliate KNTV transmits on channel 12 from Mt. San Bruno. I would like to be able to watch NBC, but I am unsure whether it will be possible. My question: what the likelihood that I will be able to get reception on channel 12 with a VHF antenna, and if so, what would be the best antenna to use.
My TV signal analysis results: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...5b94f241474691 Thank you! |
I'd expect good success with the addition of an Antennas Direct Clear Stream 5, Antennacraft Y5713 or Y10713. Use an Antennas Direct EU385CF UHF/VHF Antenna Combiner to merge the signals into one coax.

----- I recommend the , www.antennacraft.net , Y10-7-13 VHF antenna aimed at about 310 degree magnetic compass direction. Here is how to aim antennas , www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna. Aim the DB8 antenna at about 350 degree magnetic compass direction. ---------- Use the , EU385CF-1s , UHF/VHF combiner to combine the DB8 and Y10-7-13 antennas. Connect the DB8 , UHF channels 14 thru 51 antenna , to the UHF connection of the combiner. Connect the Y10-7-13 , VHF channels 7 thru 13 antenna , to the VHF connection of the combiner. Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. . www.amazon.com www.antennacraft.net ---------- Digital Tuners can develop -Digital Glitches- that are not cleared out with simple channel scans. To clear the Tuner do Double Rescan. http://www.wchstv.com/DoubleReScanAlert.pdf |
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll install the VHF antenna and combiner and will post my results.
