Need help in GA after ditching Dish

I'm trying to go through all the reviews on antennas and it seems there is no right one....depending on location.

I am trying to find something I can do myself without a pole and put in the attic of a single story home. I have a short range one up there now with a pre amp between the TV and the co-ax cable. It works...just okay. I can pick up Fox, PCH and sometimes ABC....and some other random stuff

Is there any hope?

here's my chart:

Thanks for any advice!

Yes, there is hope... :)

A 'do-it-yourself' size antenna such as the RCA ANT-751 can mount on the side of the house. My preference would be a larger antenna, up high... but the smaller antenna should give you a solid lineup of programing when mounted outside, aimed at about 140° per your compass.

Attic mounting can/will rob you of a surprising amount of signal.

Thanks GroundUrMast

That one just may fit the budget too!
The Dish is still on the roof so maybe I can attach to the existing hardware and use the co-ax from that as well. It looks small enough so hopefully the homeowner's assoc won't pitch a fit :)

FWIW: The FCC says you can place an antenna on your roof... http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html Your HOA will most certainly know this, though I doubt they are willing to be the ones to tell you.

The J-pole used to mount your dish makes an excellent mast for the small and mid-size antennas. When aiming south (generally), an existing J-pole is usually mounted in a convenient spot. The coax from you satellite installation is compatible with OTA reception, though many of the other components will not be.
