Newbie needs some help please
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...46aece24f7ff36
At the top is my signal Analysis. I have one tv directly wired to an rca antenna model #3036x. I am getting a few channels ion ,several fox channels , but i am not getting all the major networks . So my question is;is there an antenna that will get me abc , cbs ,nbc, fox, ion. Thanks for any help. |
I have to wonder if the 3036 is aimed correctly... Just to be sure, the front of the antenna is the short group of elements (the UHF section) and at the rear are the longer VHF elements that sweep forward. The antenna should be pointing toward Seattle, about 180° per a real compass.
How high is the antenna? Is it blocked by trees or hidden in an attic? Is the cable new or salvaged? |

-------- Where is the antenna located , attic or above the roof?? Or some where else?? Aim the antenna at about 170 degree magnetic compass direction. Here is how to aim antennas , www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna. Install a New matching transformer (balun) to the antenna and connect a NEW continues length of coax to the matching transformer , run the New continues length of coax , direct to 1 Tv. The Digital Tv Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels. The , ATSC aka 8VSB channels. Some digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable Tv channels. DO NOT channel scan for cable Tv channels. Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select ~ DTV Channels ~ Antenna Channels ~ Air Channels ~. ATSC aka 8VSB . Also do not channel scan for Analog Tv channels. |
I have the orientation of the antenna aimed Correctly and approximately at the proper degree. It is about 20' feet off the ground not shadowed directly by trees in front of it ,but there are big trees around the coax is new and all connections are properly made

The antenna is outside on the roof and about 20 feet off the ground. What exactly is a matching transformer and where would be a source for one?
Thanks again for all the help |

------- The matching transformer (balun) , connects the antenna to the coax. ------- Also , Digital Broadcast Tv tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans. To clear tuner do Double Rescan. www.wchstv.com/DoubleReScanAlert.pdf ---------------------------- The tuner in the Tv might be defective. |
Brick and mortar store options... Radio Shack and possibly Lowe's

--------- As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house. Some and not all Negative Effects are Absorbing , Blocking , Reception Multi-Path Reflecting Tv signals bouncing all around. The Best Pratice is to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house. |

------- The antenna might be defective in some way or ways. |
