Antenna Choice for Rural Area between 2 cities

I had purchased this antenna a little over 2 years ago. http://www.amazon.com/Sewell-Direct-...direct+antenna

I got about 18 channels with it, and it picked up well enough never to need the rotator. However, it's approaching my second anniversary of cutting the cord and I need an upgrade (mainly because the amp went out).

Which should do the trick the ChannelMaster 4228HD or Clearstream C4. Should I use the CM7777 preamp with each? I put a Clearstream C2 with no amp, but it didn't fair too well.

This will be an attic install.

As always , attics and the inside of buildings Are Not a reception friendly environment and Never Will Be a reception friendly environment.

Reasons:

Multi-Path/Reflections , signals bouncing around.

Absorbing Tv reception.

Blocking Tv reception.

Install the Channel Master CM4228HD in the attic aimed at about 210 degree magnetic compass direction.

If required for better reception , install a CM7778 preamp.

As a Test of reception of both the Columbia and Charlotte Tv stations at the same time with one CM4228HD antenna.

Above the Peak Of The Roof in such a manner that the roof and building are not impeding and blocking reception in the directions of Columbia and Charlotte.

Install the CM4228HD UHF/VHF antenna aimed at about , 350 degree magnetic compass direction.

Digital tuners can develop -Digital Glitches- that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

Do Double Rescan.

It is also a good idea to rescan from time to time because New Digital BroadcastTv stations/channels can begin transmitting at any time with no notice.
