Can not pick up CBS in myrtle beach sc
 

I installed an antennas direct Clearstream 5. It is a high gain digital VHF antenna. My antenna is as as high as I can get it...16 feet. I do not have trees close to me. I get great reception for channels up to 50 plus miles away however I absolutely can not pick up CBS which is 13.1 VHF signal at 336 degrees magnetic. It is the same distance away as a few other channels I am receiving and it at the same magnetic direction. The line from my antenna is connected to the line into my house via a barrel connector. Total length from antenna to tv is less than 50 feet. Any ideas on how to solve this problem. I am very frustrated at this point. Thanks, Randy

Make sure you have the front and rear of the C5 properly identified. Don't laugh or be offended, we get that phone call several times a year.

Try an FM trap. Radio Shack # 15-0024. Since you don't have any amplifiers installed, the filter may be installed anywhere along the line between the antenna and the TV set that is convenient.

Use the Exact Address to make the tvfool radar report / channel list.

Make and post a tvfool report with a 25 foot antenna height above ground.

The 25 foot antenna height above ground is Reference antenna height.

Also make and post a tvfool report with the 16 foot antenna height.

Tried the trap
 

Bought the trap. It did not work so I decided to take my antenna off the pole and moved it 6 feet to the right of its past location. Lo and behold CBS came in but I then lost ABC and Cw. Spent all day trying to find a sweet spot but never did. I can not raise my antenna any higher. I just have a dead zone and can't not figure out a solution.

Yeah, that happens. Bummer....

You might try a second UHF-only antenna, a small Yagi, for example, and see if you can find a sweet spot for UHF with it, then combine the two antennas with the combiner included with the C5. You'll then have two distinct mounting locations.

The sweet spot for UHF is where I have my antenna now. CBS is a VHF channel so will I have to get another long range VHF antenna and combine the 2?

Ok , Aim the C5 antenna at about 300 degree magnetic compass direction.

The C5 also receives UHF band channels 14 thru 51.

For this - Test - of reception , To Reduce problem situations , Have only 1 Tv connected , no splitters.

The C5 antenna must clear the roof of the house for reception to the , North West and North East.

And any obstructions that are in the way of reception , will reduce reduce.

If not then install a Winegard LNA-100 'Boost' antenna system amplifier.

Must be No other amplifiers in the system , it is the LNA-100 only.

It is Only 1 antenna for now , the C5 that you have.

The second antenna - If it comes to that - will not be another C5.

The second antenna - if it comes to that - will be a UHF only antenna.

Try reception with the C5 antenna that you have First.

Do a Double Rescan.

And adjust the C5 Antenna aim direction - If required - for best reception of the listed channels.

Most Digital Tv's have a signal strength meter and some digital Tv's also have a signal quality meter.

No. Get a simple UHF antenna, find a good spot for it, aim it at the main cluster of towers that provides service for the Myrtle Beach area, and use the C5 for VHF only after combining them. Lot less expensive than another C5.

Another idea would be to continue looking for a single spot where everything happens to come together. If you find that spot, then the C5 can be your single antenna.

Yeah, there's some black art to all this. Be patient, though, and you'll usually be able to solve the issue.
