Pleasanton CA
Hi, if you don't mind, I would like to do a double check on reception potential from Pleasanton, CA, mostly from Sutro Tower, near San Francisco.
In case it isn't obvious, there is a really big hill in the way, so some simple attempts I made 20 years ago were futile. Nonetheless, I would like to try again. These are the channels I have in mind, pretty much all on Sutro Tower. KTVU-DT cable 2 / D 44 / FOX / KRON- virtual 4 / D 38 / UHF - might be available via free internet / HULU ? KPIX-DT 5 / CBS / UHF 29 / Virtual 5 / 560-566 MHZ KGO-DT 7 - / UHF KQED-DT 9 / KOFY-DT 20.1 / 20.2 / UHF KMTP-DT 32 (digital 33) 32.1, 32.2 / UHF / ??? MHZ KBCW-DT 38 KBCW-DT 44 / Virtual 45 UHF / CW / watch often / ??? MHZ KCSM-DT 60 / Digital 43 / UHF / 60.1, 60.2, 60.3 / watch occasionally Optional / not required, but interesting KICU / cable 6 / D 36.1 / Fremont Mission Peak broadcast tower (nearly south from Pleasanton) KTEH - D10 / PBS feed. It might be possible to watch the shows on-line ? Here is the TV Fool report taken at 40 ft high. http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1ddafefeba1001 The antennas I am thinking about are: - antenna direct XG91 - DB8 It will take about 100 ft of cable to get from the antenna to the TV. |
Pleasanton, CA to Sutro Tower
Hi, this is the TV fool analysis for my location:
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1ddaf61548b820 I am mostly interested in stations coming from Sutro Tower. Most of these are UHF, but some are VHF lo and VHF hi. I am wondering about a few options: - DB8 - Fracarro Sigma6HD ( because it is nice and compact and has a very flat dB profile) - Antennas direct clearstream 4 or 5 - Antenna craft HD1850, but I am not sure my wife will let me put that up or not. Open to comments / suggestions. Thanks Harry |
For reception of the UHF stations , Sutro and San Bruno.
Put the claims of the Antennas Direct , New DB8e antenna to the test. http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...V-Antenna.html. _____________________________________ The Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamplifier has been discontinued. If you can find one use the CPA-19. Type CPA-19 preamplifier in to the google search box. If not. Then use a Winegard HDP-269 Preamplifier. |
Thank you for the suggestion on the DB8e. That is a very good looking setup.
Interestingly, I have been looking closely at the Fracarro Sigma 6HD which also has quite a strong UHF response and the Fracarro 345F, which extends down into the high VHF (7-13) as well. (abilityhdtv) The more I read about the challenges of the signal / terrain interactions, the more I am tempted to hire a pro to do the install. The price difference might be worth it since my wife is viewing the whole experience with some doubt. |
The Fracarro antennas are peaked/designed for the European channels that are higher in frequency then the USA now uses.
The UHF channels 52 thru 69 are no longer used for Tv transmission and reception here in the USA. The Fracarro antennas are peaked/designed for maximum reception on channels 52 thru 69. |
