Need Antenna Selection & location Guidence - West Michigan
 

Hello all,

This site has been a great resource as our family has decided to drop cable TV. I'm in need of some antenna guidance and location help. Here goes:

I'm trying to get the following channels by priority:
1) WOOD-DT (7)
2) WGVU-TV (11)
3) WZZM (13)
4) WXMI (19)
5) WWMt (8)

I have three mounting options with clear views to the South-east. In order of easiest to hardest effort required to mount:
1) In garage attic (~13-15 feet off the ground)
2) in second Story attic (~25 feet off the ground)
3) attached to top of chimney (~30 feet off the ground)

Its the dead of winter here, so regardless the first place I will likely mount is in the garage attic.

I will need to run ~75 feet of co-ax to get the antenna feed into my house for options 1 & 2. Considerably less for option 3.

I plan to split the signal one-time once inside the house to feed two tv's

I am looking for advice on ideal antenna and mounting locations.

I appreciate the feedback.

For Reliable reception of the Many Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels to the , east , south east.

( The stronger Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels to the , north / north east will also be received without a antenna rotator ).

Above the roof install a Winegard HD7696P antenna with a Winegard HDP-269 preamp aimed at about , 120 degree magnetic compass direction.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

Buy the HFS splitters at , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.hollandelectronics.com.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , reflicing , reducing , blocking , Digital Tv Reception including your own roof and house.

It is best to install the , HD7696P antenna at a location that has little obstructions to no obstructions in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu becauswe the Tv transisiions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antennas.

Some Digital tv will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv setup menu and select , Air Channels' / Antenna Channels'.

If you ever care to add another antenna, it looks like you have a clear shot at Milwaukee, too.
I see their channels on your list, just not on the radar.
