help on choosing antenna
Hello, we are breaking the cable tie and would like a suggestion for an antenna for out location.
our report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1dda234741d455 Thanks in advance, alan |
If you're not blocked by trees or neighboring buildings, the RCA ANT-751r fits you like a glove. If you're fighting some obstructions, the Winegard HD7694P gives you more gain and directivity to help overcome some of the effects.
Point toward the west, 255° and enjoy lot's of easy to receive signals. |
Thanks, we will be fighting some trees.
The antenna will only be about 20 feet high. Lot'sa lightning around here.... |
Above the Peak of the roof install a Winegard HD7694P antenna aimed at about 265 degree magnetic compass direction.
Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some above the roof antenna mounts. http://www.ronard.com/909911.html. If using a tripod antenna mount use the 5 foot antenna mount. http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html. If using a eave antenna mount use the #4560. http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html. http://www.ronard.com. Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box or buy from ronard. Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com. The Digital Tv transmissions are strong at your location. No preamplifier is required. For 1 Tv connected use No splitter. For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter. For 3 Tv's connected use a simple common 3 way splitter. _________________ As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , reflecting , reducing , blocking , Digital Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house. Install the HD7694P antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house. At your location the 2 main groups of Digital Tv transmitters are to the , south west , west , north west. The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the , OTA= Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv channels , often named the , 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna. Some Digital Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels. DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels. Go into the Digital Tv setup menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'. ______________________________________________ If keeping any type or kind of pay cable service such as , cable tv service , cable internet service , cable phone service. The Tv antenna and the cable delivered service cannot be on the same coax. As an example , the cable internet service must be on a separate coax. Yes the coaxes that are in or on the house can be used for the antenna system. |

Thanks to all for the advice, looks like a project for this weekend.

Picked up the RCA ANT-751R at Lowes for $70 mainly because of the small size. Just laying the antenna on the shrubs the televisions tuned in 46 channels! Plenty enough for us. I will get it off the ground and mount it on the workshop eave today, along with grounding the antenna and the coax to the electrical panel ground bar in the workshop.
Thanks again for the advice, saving $50 a month from cutting cable isn't a lot per month, but over the years will add up. Alan |
