Newbie here & I need advice! Please help!
I'm new here. I am having trouble trying to get "basic tv" or "free tv" whatever it is called. I do not wish to pay for cable, just want the basic channels if possible. I have a tv with rabbit ears & I have a digital converter box. I hooked everything up & when I turned it on the converter box said that my atenna signal is not strong enough (0 percent). I tried this in 3 different rooms & with 2 different tvs & I still can't get anything. Can anyone help me out? I can try to provide you with more details if you want! Thank you very much!

Tv Antennas and Reception
As the other question askers do , Do This-->http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=4 , The tvfool radar report is what we need. Is the place that you live a , House?? , Apt.?? , Condo?? Is building wrapped with any type or kind of metal such as but not limited to metal siding or stucko with stucko Wire ?? Does the building have a metal roof?? , Are the outside walls made of poured concrete?? Is the building brick from the ground to the roof?? If you were to install a roof top type Tv antenna how high do you think it would be , is this a 1 story building or 2 story building. We do not live where you do so we ask questions.

Thanks for the help! I will try to answer the questions to the best of my ability. It's townhouses that are connected together & it looks to be brick from ground up to roof. Not sure if the roof is metal or not. It's a 2 story building. Not sure how high the antenna would be (sorry).
Here is a report that I did using the link you gave me. http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...3cf4cc9c189f4b Is there anymore information that you need or that I can provide you with? I will be happy to do so! Thank you so much for helping! |
You have several signals so strong that a paper clip should receive several of them. Therefore, there's probably a step that you're missing that is keeping anything from working.
Do NOT use any antenna with an amplifier. Use a passive loop & rabbit ear antenna only. If you can place it in a west or southwest-facing window, do so for best results. Since you're using a converter box: 1) Verify that you can see the menus of the box on your TV screen first. 2) Using the converter box's remote, run a channel scan/search to see in anything is received. Keep in mind that you might always have a defective box or antenna, so be prepared to substitute. |
Tv Antennas and Reception
The television stations transmissions to west . south west and south are very strong. With a Simple NON Amplified indoor Tv antenna placed at a window that is in the direction of Tv transmitters then a Digital to Analog Converter box or Tv with a Digital Broadcast Tv Tuner -->WILL <--> Receive the Strong television transmissions. Here are simple indoor Tv antennas http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=233 . Here is how to point Tv antennas http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html
