Newbie needs advice
Looking for recomendations for equipment. Currently with Fountier FIOS who is going to raise our rates $30/Mo unless we switch to a dish. Looking at my other options.
He is the signal map http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...da32d397105d1a I have three TV's all high definition tvs. I think these to are ready to hook straight to an antenna http://www.vizio.com/lcd-hdtvs/sv421xvt.html?___SID=U http://www.vizio.com/lcd-hdtvs/va320e.html?___SID=U I believe would need a digital conveter???? http://reviews.cnet.com/projection-t...7-7299182.html I'm not worried about the Canadian Channels but we would need all of the Seattle/Tacoma channels (KING, KOMO, KIRO, KCPQ) What does it take in an antenna? I hoping I could get away with a good one in the attic. Would I need a sperate digital box? We have an xbox360 so I think I can get ESPN and netfix thru the FIOS internet. Is there a DVR I could run thru all three and hook to the computer to get hulu and other streams? Any help would be appreciated. JS |
It looks like you are either in a ravine or have rising terrain south of your location. You are in a fairly deep 'shadow' of the terrain between you and Seattle. To be successful receiving the stations you named, you will need to be a bit aggressive. An attic mount has very little chance of success.
I would recommend an Antennas Direct 91XG and an Antennacraft Y10713. Mount the 91XG as high as posssible, aimed at 180° (compass). Mount the Y10713 4 to 6 feet below the 91XG, aiming at 207° (compass). http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp...u=853748001910 http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp...0Antennas&sku= Combine the two antennas with a high input preamp http://www.antennacraft.net/Antennas...mplifiers.html 10G221 The receivers you mention should be digital OTA capable. Windows 7 Home premium includes Home theater PC software with DVR capability. External tuners work well with W-7 http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=820 |
