Best Antenna for my area
My TV fool report http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...da32e61f641f2e
I currently have a Radio Shack directional style antenna on the roof at about 30ft above the ground. Here is the antenna http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...00+-+%24199.99 The antenna has taken some wind damage so I am due for an upgrade. I am pointing at the fox tower. I point it at the Fox tower because it is the weakest signal I receive. I currently do not have a Pre amp on the antenna. I would like to get the best antenna available and put it on a rotater so I can try to pull in WWTO-DT (Digital) and KGCW-DT (Digital) CW channel. I don't know if can be a possibility or not but its worth a try. If you need any more information let me know. Thank you :) |
WWTO is highly improbable.
KGCW is slightly less likely. A deep fringe UHF antenna "might" work, but I suspect any tuner or pre-amp will be sufficiently desensitized by your Peoria stations that are pretty much in your backyard and are quite powerful. |
If this is a hobby interest, you may consider stacking or ganging two or four identical antennas. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=1024 This strategy provides additional gain and directivity, theoretically eliminating the need for amplification. Ganging two or four 91-XG's would be a possibility if you were inclined to try.
ADTech and I agree that an amplifier in you location would likely be overloaded by the strong local stations. FWIW a Yagi style antenna cut for channel 10, with sufficient gain (13dB or more) would be at least 18 feet long. Again, this would be a hobbyist DX'rs project. |
Thank you guys for your help.
I just recently bought a new TV and the reception on the TV is a lot better then the Tuner card I have in my PC. I am able to pick up a stronger signal now. here is a list of channels I am picking up right now. 19-1 WHOI-HD (90-100%) 19-2 WHOI-CW (90-100%) 25-1 WEEK-HD (90-100%) 25-2 WEEK-WX -->"Weather" (90-100%) 31-1 WMBD-DT (90-100%) 43-1 WYZZ-DT (90-100%) 43-2 CoolTv --> Music Channel (90-100%) 46-8 No info available but 100% Signal and for signal type it reads "x" 46-9 No info available but 100% Signal and for signal type it reads "x" 47-1 WTVP-HD (90-100%) 47-2 WTVP-WR (90-100%) 47-3 WTVP-CR (90-100%) 50 WWTO-TV35 Lasalle (80-90%) 59-1 WAOE-HD (70-80%) 65 Analog channel coming in with only 1 bar What could 46-8 and 46-9 be that are broadcasting a 100% Signal but no info available? Found the answer for these two channels ^^^^ These two subchannels are artifacts of the UpdateTV service. They do not show programming. |
